At Cal Poly Maritime Academy, leadership starts with students. Through the Associated Students of the California Maritime Academy (ASCMA), our recognized student government, students create a vibrant campus community by leading events, activities, clubs and organizations. We provide training, resources and financial support to empower student organizations and help every student find their place and make an impact.
ASCMA Student Government

Clubs and Organizations
All clubs are student-initiated and student-run, giving cadets the chance to build leadership skills, explore personal interests and create meaningful social and professional connections—all while having fun and getting involved on campus. Through club involvement, students strengthen communication, gain cross-cultural experiences, learn teamwork, enhance their résumés and form lifelong friendships.
ASCMA supports a wide variety of clubs, including those focused on academics, career connections, cultural diversity, social activities and special interests. Clubs evolve with student interests, and if a club doesn’t exist for your passion, you can start a new one!
To learn more about joining campus clubs and organizations, contact the Director of Student Affairs. For details on starting or organizing a new club, refer to the Club Handbook.
